تھی تتلیوں کے تعاقب میں زندگی میری

وہ شہر کیا ہوا جس کی تھی ہر گلی میری

میں اپنی ذات کی تشریح کرتا پھرتا تھا

نہ جانے پھر کہاں آواز کھو گئی میری

یہ سرگزشت زمانہ یہ داستان حیات

ادھوری بات میں بھی رہ گئی کمی میری

ہوائے کوہ ندا اک ذرا ٹھہر کہ ابھی

زمانہ غور سے سنتا ہے ان کہی میری

میں اتنے زور سے چیخا چٹخ گیا ہے بدن

پھر اس کے بعد کسی نے نہیں سنی میری

یہ درمیاں کا خلا ہی مرا نہیں ورنہ

یہ آسمان بھی میرا زمین بھی میری

کسے خبر کہ گہر کیسے ہاتھ آتے ہیں

سمندروں سے بھی گہری ہے خامشی میری

کوئی تو آئے مرے پاس دو گھڑی بیٹھے

کہ کر گئی مجھے تنہا خود آگہی میری

کبھی کبھی تو زمانہ رہا نگاہوں میں

کبھی کبھی نظر آئی نہ شکل بھی میری

مجھے خبر ہے کہاں ہوں میں کون ہوں اخترؔ

کہ میرے نام سے صورت گری ہوئی میری
