شکر ہم نے نہ کچھ شکایت کی

بات ہے اپنی اپنی خصلت کی

ایسا ہموار راستہ کب تھا

کیا ضرورت تھی اتنی عجلت کی

کہتی رہتی ہے بوڑھی گمنامی

کتنی چھوٹی تھی عمر شہرت کی

یاس امید غم خوشی خواہش

گھر میں ہر چیز ہے ضرورت کی

ہیں مقدر عذاب کے موسم

کوئی رت ہو نصیب راحت کی

دن ڈھلے ہوگا جشن تنہائی

التجا ہے غموں سے شرکت کی

یاد آیا وہ ٹوٹ کر فاروقؔ

رات بارش تھی کیا قیامت کی

baat hai apni apni KHaslat ki

aisa hamwar rasta kab tha
kya zarurat thi utni ujlat ki

kahti rahti hai buDhi gumnami
kitni chhoTi thi umr shohrat ki

yas ummid gham KHushi KHwahish
ghar mein har chiz hai zarurat ki

hain muqaddar azab ke mausam
koi rut ho nasib rahat ki

din-Dhale hoga jashn-e-tanhai
iltija hai ghamon se shirkat ki

yaad aaya wo TuT kar 'faruq'
raat barish thi kya qayamat ki
