لوگ گیتوں کا نگر یاد آیا

آج پردیس میں گھر یاد آیا

جب چلے آئے چمن زار سے ہم

التفات گل تر یاد آیا

تیری بیگانہ نگاہی سر شام

یہ ستم تا بہ سحر یاد آیا

ہم زمانے کا ستم بھول گئے

جب ترا لطف نظر یاد آیا

تو بھی مسرور تھا اس شب سر بزم

اپنے شعروں کا اثر یاد آیا

پھر ہوا درد تمنا بیدار

پھر دل‌ خاک‌ بسر یاد آیا

ہم جسے بھول چکے تھے جالبؔ

پھر وہی راہ گزر یاد آیا
