جاگنے والو تا بہ سحر خاموش رہو

کل کیا ہوگا کس کو خبر خاموش رہو

کس نے سحر کے پاؤں میں زنجیریں ڈالیں

ہو جائے گی رات بسر خاموش رہو

شاید چپ رہنے میں عزت رہ جائے

چپ ہی بھلی اے اہل نظر خاموش رہو

قدم قدم پر پہرے ہیں ان راہوں میں

دار و رسن کا ہے یہ نگر خاموش رہو

یوں بھی کہاں بے تابئ دل کم ہوتی ہے

یوں بھی کہاں آرام مگر خاموش رہو

شعر کی باتیں ختم ہوئیں اس عالم میں

کیسا جوشؔ اور کس کا جگرؔ خاموش رہو
