ملے وہ درس مجھ کو زندگی سے
کہ اب ڈرنے لگا دل دوستی سے
خرد ہے آخری منزل جنوں کی
پریشاں کیوں ہو میری آگہی سے
تم آئے بھی تو غم کو ساتھ لائے
مرے آنسو نکل آئے خوشی سے
خود اپنا نام لے کر کوستا ہوں
خودی غافل نہیں ہے بے خودی سے
یہ مانا موت بھی آساں نہیں ہے
مگر مشکل نہیں ہے زندگی سے
زمانہ درس حاصل کر رہا ہے
تمہاری اور ہماری زندگی سے
اچٹتی سی نظر اقبالؔ ان کی
کوئی ملتا ہو جیسے اجنبی سے

KHudi ghafil nahin hai be-KHudi se
ye mana maut bhi aasan nahin hai
magar mushkil nahin hai zindagi se
zamana dars hasil kar raha hai
tumhaari aur hamari zindagi se
uchaTti si nazar 'iqbaal' un ki
koi milta ho jaise ajnabi se
