تجھ پہ ہم اک کتاب لکھ بیٹھے

اس کو کار ثواب لکھ بیٹھے

دوستوں کے سلوک کو بھی ہم

آج کوئی عذاب لکھ بیٹھے

اس کو لکھنا تھا کم نظر لیکن

ہائے عالی جناب لکھ بیٹھے

ہم کو لکھنی تھی اک غزل لیکن

اپنے غم کا حساب لکھ بیٹھے

تیری قامت کی بات جب آئی

حسن کا اک نصاب لکھ بیٹھے

گرچہ خط کا ہے انتظار ابھی

پھر بھی ہم ہیں جواب لکھ بیٹھے

خط میں القاب اس کو اے خوشترؔ

تازہ رنگیں گلاب لکھ بیٹھے

aaj koi azab likh baiThe

us ko likhna tha kam-nazar lekin
hae aali-janab likh baiThe

teri qamat ki baat jab aai
husn ka ek nisab likh baiThe

garche KHat ka hai intizar abhi
phir bhi hum hain jawab likh baiThe

KHat mein alqab us ko ai 'KHushtar'
