سلسلے فکر و فن کے تھے ہی نہیں

ہم تو اس انجمن کے تھے ہی نہیں

کون اپنا ہی گھر اجاڑتا ہے

باغباں وہ چمن کے تھے ہی نہیں

کیوں پلٹ کر ادھر نہیں دیکھا

کیا بلاوے وطن کے تھے ہی نہیں

مطمئن تھے درون شہر پناہ

ہم سپاہی تو رن کے تھے ہی نہیں

سب نوشتے تو ہم نے دیکھ لئے

وہ حوالے متن کے تھے ہی نہیں

ہائے وہ ربط باہمی کی فضا

فاصلے ما و من کے تھے ہی نہیں

اب کھلا ہم پہ وہ سبھی رشتے

تن کے تھے سارے من کے تھے ہی نہیں

hum to is anjuman ke the hi nahin

kaun apna hi ghar ujaDta hai
baghban wo chaman ke the hi nahin

kyon palaT kar idhar nahin dekha
kya bulawe watan ke the hi nahin

mutmain the darun-e-shahr-e-panah
hum sipahi to ran ke the hi nahin

sab nawishte to hum ne dekh liye
wo hawale matan ke the hi nahin

hae wo rabt-e-bahami ki faza
fasle ma-o-man ke the hi nahin

ab khula hum pe wo sabhi rishte
tan ke the sare man ke the hi nahin
