ٹوٹ کر عہد تمنا کی طرح

معتبر ہم رہے فردا کی طرح

شوق منزل تو بہت ہے لیکن

چلتے ہیں نقش کف پا کی طرح

جا ملیں گے کبھی گلزاروں سے

پھیلتے جائیں گے صحرا کی طرح

دیکھ کر حال پریشاں اپنا

ہم بھی ہنس لیتے ہیں دنیا کی طرح

کبھی پایاب کبھی طوفانی

ہم بھی ہیں دشت کے دریا کی طرح

محفل ناز میں رہئے لیکن

دیکھیے چشم تماشا کی طرح

اپنے دشمن سے ہوں واقف تابشؔ

کسی دیرینہ شناسا کی طرح
