اگرچہ رات ظالم دن کڑا ہے
زمانے سے ہمارا غم بڑا ہے
ہماری بات تک سنتا نہیں وہ
یہ کیسے شخص سے پالا پڑا ہے
پنپتا ہی نہیں ہے کچھ بھی مجھ میں
مرے دل میں کوئی مردہ گڑا ہے
ہواؤں میں اداسی بھر گیا ہے
یہ کیسا شاخ سے پتا جھڑا ہے
عمر فرحتؔ ہے بس ہم کو اٹھانا
یہ دنیا ہے یہاں کیا کیا پڑا ہے
