آج بھی دشت بلا میں نہر پر پہرا رہا

کتنی صدیوں بعد میں آیا مگر پیاسا رہا

کیا فضائے صبح خنداں کیا سواد شام غم

جس طرف دیکھا کیا میں دیر تک ہنستا رہا

اک سلگتا آشیاں اور بجلیوں کی انجمن

پوچھتا کس سے کہ میرے گھر میں کیا تھا کیا رہا

زندگی کیا ایک سناٹا تھا پچھلی رات کا

شمعیں گل ہوتی رہیں دل سے دھواں اٹھتا رہا

قافلے پھولوں کے گزرے اس طرف سے بھی مگر

دل کا اک گوشہ جو سونا تھا بہت سونا رہا

تیری ان ہنستی ہوئی آنکھوں سے نسبت تھی جسے

میری پلکوں پر وہ آنسو عمر بھر ٹھہرا رہا

اب لہو بن کر مری آنکھوں سے بہہ جانے کو ہے

ہاں وہی دل جو حریف جوشش دریا رہا

کس کو فرصت تھی کہ اخترؔ دیکھتا میری طرف

میں جہاں جس بزم میں جب تک رہا تنہا رہا
