خالی مکان کے لئے مہمان چاہیئے
دیوار و در کے واسطے انسان چاہیئے
یہ کیا کہ میرے گاؤں کی گلیاں اداس ہیں
بنجر زمین کے لئے دھقان چاہیئے
میرا قلم جو چپ نہیں ہوتا کسی سمے
جو بول پا نہیں رہے، ان کو زبان چاہیئے
میں معترض ہوں اور انہیں کے خلاف ہوں
چند لوگ جن کو کم نہیں، سارا جہان چاہیئے
بے سمت کشیوں کو کوئی بادبان چاہیئے
جو چاہیئے، غریب، مجھے شادمان چاہیئے
احمد! میں دیکھتا ہوں کہ ابتر ہے زندگی
پھر مجھ سے کہہ رہے ہو کہ اچھا گمان چاہیئے
