بلند و پست میں منزل ہمیں کہیں نہ ملی

جو آسمان سے نازل ہوئے زمیں نہ ملی

گلہ نہیں کہ ترا سنگ آستاں نہ ملا!

یہ ہے کہ دیدۂ تر کو وہ آستیں نہ ملی

کبھی جو شانۂ عقدہ کشا نصیب ہوا

تو اس کی زلف گرہ گیر و عنبریں نہ ملی

بجا کہ جان زلیخا تھے مصر میں یوسف

مگر جو بات تھی کنعاں میں وہ کہیں نہ ملی

ملے جو عرش پہ خلد بریں تو کیا حاصل؟

کہ اس زمیں پہ ہمیں جنت زمیں نہ ملی

رئیسؔ داد خداوند آفرینش کو!

اگر ملی تو بجز حرف آفریں نہ ملی
