شکوہ کرنے سے کوئی شخص خفا ہوتا ہے

شکوہ کرنے سے کوئی شخص خفا ہوتا ہے

اور شکوہ نہیں کرتا تو گلہ ہوتا ہے

حشر جس سے دل مطرب میں بپا ہوتا ہے

صرف اک نغمۂ بے صوت و صدا ہوتا ہے

نیند آتی نہیں جس رات تجھے اے دل زار

شاید اس رات کوئی جاگ رہا ہوتا ہے

یوں ہے وحشت کدۂ دل میں تری یاد اے دوست

جیسے صحرا میں کوئی پھول کھلا ہوتا ہے

روح شاعر سے ابھرتا ہے سرود ابدی

عین اس وقت کہ دل ڈوب رہا ہوتا ہے

دیکھ تو کون خود آرا ہے پس پردۂ رنگ

تکمۂ گل تو فقط بند قبا ہوتا ہے

اور بڑھ جاتی ہے کچھ لفظ و بیاں کی تاثیر

لفظ جب اشک کی صورت میں ادا ہوتا ہے

گامزن روح ہوئی وادئ خاموشاں میں

ختم آخر سفر‌ کوہ ندا ہوتا ہے
