اس گلی کے لوگوں کو منہ لگا کے پچھتائے

ایک درد کی خاطر کتنے درد اپنائے

تھک کے سو گیا سورج شام کے دھندلکوں میں

آج بھی کئی غنچے پھول بن کے مرجھائے

ہم ہنسے تو آنکھوں میں تیرنے لگی شبنم

تم ہنسے تو گلشن نے تم پہ پھول برسائے

اس گلی میں کیا کھویا اس گلی میں کیا پایا

تشنہ کام پہنچے تھے تشنہ کام لوٹ آئے

پھر رہی ہیں آنکھوں میں تیرے شہر کی گلیاں

ڈوبتا ہوا سورج پھیلتے ہوئے سائے

جالبؔ ایک آوارہ الجھنوں کا گہوارہ

کون اس کو سمجھائے کون اس کو سلجھائے
